Packing Up Day

It's Valentine's Day, an occasion when many couples go out to dinner, eat red-iced cake, and generally stimulate the economy with lots of cash.

My wife and I are packing up for a weekend on the islands of North Carolina's Outer Banks. We're meeting up with a Texas contact (who's now in Orlando, Florida, where we have business later in the summer). I've tried on the last two trips to the Outer Banks to make it to the Hatteras museum, The Graveyard of the Atlantic. I've written a novel based on a hurricane that ravages the Carolina coast, and I'm hoping to gather information for a new novel based on an Outer Banks lighthouse. Cape Hatteras Light seems the obvious choice, but there's Bodie Island Light, the Roanoke Marshes Lighthouse and many others.

Trip to the Outer Banks

My wife and I have a Valentine's weekend trip to the Outer Banks planned to meet up with some old friends from Fort Worth, Texas.

We were in the choir together at Bethesda Community Church. David (our friend) is now in Florida and plans to be in Hatteras with his fiancee for the day. It was a great chance for my wife and I to reserve two nights in a beachfront hotel in Nag's Head and take in the scenery with zero crowds.

We've Wrapped up a New Book!

I just got off the phone with Dr. Tracy Brinson from Perry, Georgia.

Dr. Brinson and I have been working on his new book, Defining Christ, a set of 88 outlines covering the book of Luke in the Bible.

He's excited about already building royalties on his existing sales, and his first shipment of physical books arrives tomorrow.

Sunday at the Park

What a Sunday!

February 10, 2019 started out in the mid-20s, but by the afternoon, the sun beat back the chill, and the dog and I headed out to The Cliffs of the Neuse State Park about 6 miles away.

Chillin!! Lol. It was in the mid-50s (great shorts weather). A gaggle of people were on the trail with their dogs! A good time all around.

We Survived the Polar Vortex

The Polar Vortex swept across Canada and the continental U.S. in late January and early February, 2019.

The forecasts were frightening. Wind chills of -65 degrees F and frostbite within five minutes of unprotected exposure. One group of resort skiiers were stranded for five days in snow that covered the roof of their resort! People were doing the boiling water trick, tossing a pan of superheated water to watch it instantly freeze. One man had it blow back on him and give him severe burns.
