We Survived the Polar Vortex
The Polar Vortex swept across Canada and the continental U.S. in late January and early February, 2019.
The forecasts were frightening. Wind chills of -65 degrees F and frostbite within five minutes of unprotected exposure. One group of resort skiiers were stranded for five days in snow that covered the roof of their resort! People were doing the boiling water trick, tossing a pan of superheated water to watch it instantly freeze. One man had it blow back on him and give him severe burns.
Whew! It was a good time to live in the South! It was a blip, here, but that blip was mighty chilly, with highs for two days in the 30s.
Polar Vortex, back! Back to the Arctic where you belong. Be gone! You are banished until next winter rolls around!
